About the artist

Landin M. Petz

I make art that asks you to look closer. Stencil imagery gives a piece its bold forms; painted layers, color, and texture give those forms a setting. On some pieces, molded epoxy details bring the image off the surface, and UV glow reveals another side of it under black light.

Painting in the Dark is where I share the finished pieces and the details behind them. A painting, a mixed media work, or even a chair can become a canvas.

How I work

From image to object.

Each piece begins with a visual idea. I build it through graphic imagery and layered painting, then use physical details or light where they serve the piece.

01

Stencil imagery

Figures, symbols, and repeating shapes establish the composition. Their crisp edges play against looser painted areas and texture.

02

Epoxy mold details

On selected mixed media pieces, molded epoxy forms add dimension beyond the painted surface. Flowers, birds, hearts, and other forms can become part of the work.

03

Light and glow

Selected pieces incorporate UV reactive material. Black light activates color in a different way; some work can continue to glow after the light goes off. Each lighting state is part of the experience.

Why I create
